The GRASP Technical Support Team wants to make sure that you stay updated on techniques that will help you maintain and manage MIStro. Please check this section frequently, as new entries will be added regularly.

MIStroClef Tech Tips

  • When making changes with the unit standards or instrument standards make sure to activate the standard when completed if it was inactivated.
  • When adding new users, leave the password blank and it will automatically be set to "grasp". When the user signs in for the first time, it will automatically ask them to set a new password.
  • The "Log Viewer" under the "Tools" menu within AdminClef records all activity that is performed within MIStroClef. This will include the event, date of the activity, table name, error description, change statement, record key, and user. It also provides a search tool allowing you to search the entire audit log or error log only.
  • The "Archive Failed Messages" and "Archive Activity Log" should be set to a minimum of 2 weeks.
  • The DTS package should be run on a nightly basis to keep the Failed messages and Activity log to a minimum.

MIStroWorks Tech Tips

  • When the Encounter_Match=True statement is added to the pchl7.def file it will allow the change, transfer, and discharge transactions to match up to both the patient id number and the encounter number giving you a unique identification of the patient.
  • Make sure the pchhl7.def file has the following fields completed as shown below:
    XFUNITFR=PV1,6,1,10,L
    XFUNITTO=PV1,3,1,10,L
  • When the Limit_By_Future_Days=True statement is added to the pchl7.def file it will restrict admissions into the future from being admitted past the number of days in the "Future Days" setting in the Unit Specifications within DataWorks. This will help improve the first of the month performance.
  • When making changes to interventions on the workload instruments, it is always recommended that you end an intervention and add a new intervention to preserve your historical statistics.
  • Every time a user's ID is accessed for any reason (even if it is just to change the allowed units), the next time that user signs in, it will require the user to change their password if you have the Number of Days a Password will export set.
